Consistent Agent Productivity Begins At The Recruiting Stage!

As a real estate agent, how good are you at marketing, selling and customer service?

 I hope you answered: ā€˜Really goodā€™!

If you answered: ā€˜Not so goodā€™ or ā€˜Soā€¦soā€™ā€¦then, Iā€™m worried about you!

As a real estate trainer of more than 300,000 agents over the last 35+ years, I know, for a fact, that real estate is about three (3) areas of concentration: marketing, sales and customer service!

Real Estate is first and foremost a business of marketing, secondly a business of selling and thirdly a business of customer service!

Having command of these three (3) areas of concentration alone does NOT ā€˜guaranteeā€™ real estate successā€¦but they are, nonetheless, the ā€˜keysā€™ to success

Without agents understanding ā€˜the business of real estateā€™; without agents understanding their ā€˜multiple rolesā€™ in their own businesses; and without agents cultivating agent business-development skillsā€¦the road to ā€˜consistentā€™ productivity and success can be a rocky one!

The ā€˜Business of Real Estateā€™ is just that ā€˜A Businessā€™! Unfortunately, too many real estate agents fail to understand that and treat real estate as a ā€˜part-timeā€™ job or hobby!

They either donā€™t know, or refuse to accept, that they are committing to become a ā€˜business within the brokerā€™s businessā€™! Unfortunately, in the recruits minds they work FOR the brokerā€¦they have what I refer to as an Agent-Employee Mentality and real estate becomes 'just another jobā€™!

As a result, they tend to be ā€˜broker-dependentā€™! They tend to be more reactive than proactive; they tend to resist ā€˜investing in themselves and their professional-growthā€™; they exert a half-hearted commitment to the ā€˜businessā€™ of real estate; and, as mentioned, approach real estate with a ā€˜part-time jobā€™/'dependent' mentality.

Selfishly, I wish these agents would quickly ā€˜career adjustā€™! They're what I call ā€˜donkeysā€™! As a real estate trainer, if you give me a ā€˜donkeyā€™ to train, when I get done with them youā€™re going to get back a ā€˜Trained Donkeyā€™ā€¦not the winner of the Kentucky Derby! Iā€™m NOT a miracle-worker! Iā€™m simply a very accomplished Real Estate Trainer!  

To me, the key to ā€˜consistentā€™ agent-productivity begins at the Recruiting Stage!

First and foremost, the ā€˜recruitā€™ has got to be: 1. committed; 2. be willing to be held accountable; be coachable and be trainable! If any one of these traits are missing,    I canā€™t help themā€¦I canā€™t make a ā€˜differenceā€™!
