Consistent Agent Productivity Begins At The Recruiting Stage!
As a real estate agent, how good are you at marketing, selling and customer service?
I hope you answered: āReally goodā!
If you answered: āNot so goodā or āSoā¦soāā¦then, Iām worried about you!
As a real estate trainer of more than 300,000 agents over the last 35+ years, I know, for a fact, that real estate is about three (3) areas of concentration: marketing, sales and customer service!
Real Estate is first and foremost a business of marketing, secondly a business of selling and thirdly a business of customer service!
Having command of these three (3) areas of concentration alone does NOT āguaranteeā real estate successā¦but they are, nonetheless, the ākeysā to success!
Without agents understanding āthe business of real estateā; without agents understanding their āmultiple rolesā in their own businesses; and without agents cultivating agent business-development skillsā¦the road to āconsistentā productivity and success can be a rocky one!
The āBusiness of Real Estateā is just that āA Businessā! Unfortunately, too many real estate agents fail to understand that and treat real estate as a āpart-timeā job or hobby!
They either donāt know, or refuse to accept, that they are committing to become a ābusiness within the brokerās businessā! Unfortunately, in the recruits minds they work FOR the brokerā¦they have what I refer to as an Agent-Employee Mentality and real estate becomes 'just another jobā!
As a result, they tend to be ābroker-dependentā! They tend to be more reactive than proactive; they tend to resist āinvesting in themselves and their professional-growthā; they exert a half-hearted commitment to the ābusinessā of real estate; and, as mentioned, approach real estate with a āpart-time jobā/'dependent' mentality.
Selfishly, I wish these agents would quickly ācareer adjustā! They're what I call ādonkeysā! As a real estate trainer, if you give me a ādonkeyā to train, when I get done with them youāre going to get back a āTrained Donkeyāā¦not the winner of the Kentucky Derby! Iām NOT a miracle-worker! Iām simply a very accomplished Real Estate Trainer!
To me, the key to āconsistentā agent-productivity begins at the Recruiting Stage!
First and foremost, the ārecruitā has got to be: 1. committed; 2. be willing to be held accountable; be coachable and be trainable! If any one of these traits are missing, I canāt help themā¦I canāt make a ādifferenceā!
